Nutrition First attends Have a Heart for Kids Day
December 5, 2011 Nutrition First members Donna Oberg, Kari Fisher and Kristen Rezabek attended the Children's Alliance Have a Heart for Kids Day in Olympia on Friday, December 2, 2011. They met with Representatives Marcie Maxwell and Ruth Kagi to ask for their support in maintaining funding for Maternity Support Services, restoring $100,000 in funds for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and providing Oral Health Care for pregnant women. They visited over 13 legislator offices and the Governor's office with handwritten letters asking for their support of these vital programs.
New Executive Director October 14, 2011 It is with great pleasure that we announce Kristen Rezabek has accepted the position of Executive Director of Nutrition First. Kristen comes to us with a wealth of experience. She has worked in Commmunity Nutrition Programs as a Nutrition Manager, as a food and nutrition writer, an advocate for Public Health and Senior Nutrition Programs, and as a volunteer with Evergreen Parent Baby classes and WIC in California. Kristen has served on the Washington State Food and Nutrition Council as Newsletter Editor and Legislative Chair and President and Treasurer for the North Sound Dietetic Association. Kristen was the 2008 recipient of Washington State's Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award. We look forward to having Kristen's expertise and experience helping Nutrition First move forward.
With our deepest gratitude, we thank Shirley Hutchison, Interim Executive Director of Nutrition First for her tireless work over the past year. Shirley's twenty years of experience in WIC, her role as Program Manager for Public Health Seattle and King County, and her commitment to the Nutrition First board has provided this organization with experienced leadership and vision during this transition period.
